Planting A Seed
From 1980 until 1997 I lived in the USA where I played a key role in the establishment of the FWBO (now Triratna Buddhist Community). At first with Vajradka and Punya we set up the Boston Buddhist Center and then with Bob Ebberson (now Thiradhamma) I founded Aryaloka a retreat center in New Hampshire. In the late 1980′s we spread our wings to San Franciso, Seattle, Vancouver and later to Missoula. There are now well over fifty American members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and several flourishing centers.
Planting the seed is the story of this development as seen from my perspective – it is a witness’s view of the development of Buddhism in the USA in the 1980′s and 1990′s.
